Top Blogs
Once a week I am going to try and do a review of the blogs that I keep in my top blogs bookmark. Thus top blog Tuesday is born. Now to be a top blog the blog needs to provide a few things.
1. Quality Content; I know, I am beating a dead horse here but if the blog doesn’t contain good content then there is no need in me wasting my time reading it. Trying to keep up with my own sites take enough of my time, I don’t need to waste my time looking at blogs that can’t provide me with quality information.
2. Fun; Every now and then I like to see something other than a make money online topic. Some of the blog writers show themselves out with friends, some like to throw a little humor into a post. We can’t be serious all of the time and after a few hours writing I sometimes like to turn to a page that will lift my spirit.
3. Originality; Some people are just on top of things, instead of continuing to rehash the same old 301 redirect article they show us something new. Now something new on the web isn’t easy to come by because it seems that it has all been done before. Some people though can take a topic and show it in a whole new light and make it seem new and fresh.
4. Post regularly; Now they don’t have to post every day or every other day but it is good to have some sort of rythym so that I know when to check back. Well if the site is in my top blogs favorites then I usually open the whole folder in tabs and go through them at night.
5. Personality; This is the hardest thing to define. I guess it is the difference between a blog that has a lot of good info but is bland and boring to read and a blog that you can’t wait to see what the next article is about.
Now I have a few blogs in my favorites that meet these conditions and I also have a few that I need to weed out. If you have a suggestion just leave a comment and I will take a look at the site and see if I like it. The blog I am going to talk about today is Nate Whitehall dot com.
I came across his site after he redesigned John Chows site and I decided to bookmark it. Over the next few days I scanned a few of the older articles and I started to see some stuff that would help my site out, so his site was moved to my top blogs folder.
To start off with, his site is full of quality content. Every post that I have read so far has had some useful bit of info that I was able to drop into my little bag of tools for use at some later point in time.
He also tends to have some originality in his posts. I especially like his post on the 16 hour work day. Now that is more like what I am doing over on my sites than the four hour work week that every one else is talking about. It seems that when we talk about our personal experiences we bring a air of originality into the article also and that is what Nate has done.
As far as posting regularly, well he doesn’t put out an article every day but he has plenty to fill the week. Sometimes he may publish one or two articles a day and then not have a new one up for a few days. That is ok though, I would rather have good articles than filler content to waste my time with.
Personality so far seems to be serious. When I go to his blog I can expect “to the point” articles with a serious tone. Now that isn’t a bad thing but I haven’t detected any fun in his blog. That would probably be the only thing that I would address but it may change the overall feel of his blog. All in all I enjoy visiting his site and I would encourage anyone else to visit it.

“Every now and then I like to see something other than a make money online topic.”
I couldn’t agree more, there seems to be many resources out there for this, so why would I choose one site over the next?
I also get a little aggrevated about this “4 hour work week” idea that everyone talks about - I think it is dangerously unrealistic if you want to be successful.
That seems pretty cool. It’s nice to see another blogger reviewing and sharing some of his favorite blogs. Make sure to check mine out!
