Paid Advertising and Bidding Keywords

We have covered a few different ways to get your site seen, ranked, and on the way to being successful. So you say you aren’t getting enough traffic? Well you can pay for links and for new websites many different companies set up first time account holder specials. I just signed up with Microsoft adCenter and got a $50 credit for a $5 account activation fee. Myself I am going to try this out and see how it works. I had a small credit for Google Adwords when I started my first website and while I saw a small increase in traffic there were no new registrations on my biker forums during that period. Now that I am more established now and have learned how to bid my keywords I think I may just see a benefit from the $50 credit that Microsoft is offering. Now when I first stated I had no idea what bidding was so I will give a brief explanation;

Bidding Keywords:
When you bid a keyword you do a few things, first you are telling the advertiser the maximum that you will pay per click for a certain keyword. You are also bidding on position for that keyword, for example; biker is a very popular keyword. The bid for position No 1 is somewhere around $4 per click. Now, if I had a huge budget I might be willing to pay that to get my ad to show up in first place. Let’s say though that I have a small budget so I bid .50 cents. For that my add may show up in 4th place. Now that sounds more reasonable and I still get seen on the first page.

So what I did when setting up my ad center is set all of my bids to .10 cents. If it wasn’t enough to get it in the top 10 (first page) then I raised it to .20 cents. I did that until all of my keywords were on the first page. Then I looked at some of the real important keywords and tried to get them within the first four positions. I only had to set them as high as .50 cents to get them there. Will it be successful that way? It should according to the stats that Microsoft shows but I guess the next month and my $5 will show the proof. I only set a small budget for the month but I should still see a slight increase in traffic.

There are other programs out there but just for starters here are three popular ones with start off offers,
Microsoft adCenter ($50 worth of links for $5)
Text Link Ads ($ 100 worth of links with a minimum order of $125 [$25 out of pocket])
or you could go through Google and

Just a few notes;
1. When I first started I had no idea how to manage my Google adwords credit. I just typed in my keywords and let it fly. Now I know better and will study it better before buying more from them.
2. I called Microsoft today after signing up and they helped me understand the layout and features of their interface. They were very helpful and also said they would check back with me after I got everything setup if I wanted them to.
3. Most importantly I got the idea for this and the link to adCenter from my friend over at Ja Kel Daily. Head on over there and tell him I said hey.

That is all for now but until next time I wish you success in your blogging endeavors.

  1. I know a lot of people who sign up for the text link ads, they use my referral on pajama mommy plus buy the link since my links prices are now up to $210 dollars since I’ve sold out a few times.

    but the text link ads i love it.

  2. Thanks for the comment. I will definitely keep checking in. I am completely new at this and will take all the help I can get.

    Glad you think my goal is do-able, frankly, it scares the crap out of me. But I’ve always been ambitious. Time to test the waters.

    Can I count on you to check in from time to time? I could use people like you checking in.

    Thanks

  3. getting a domain would be wonderful, however, as I mentioned I am unemployed, and I have no knowledge in how to code a webpage. I could possibly buy a domain if I am improved for unemployment. But I still haven’t the foggiest idea how to code. The widgets just make it so easy on blogger
