Microogle?
I just heard on the news that Microsoft is Buying Google. Now I admit I didn’t catch the whole thing but that will have a huge impact on the internet if it is real. I am still sitting here kind of confused because it is unbelievable and for 44 billion. Well what is this going to mean for the search engine market, advertising, and publishers? Will it be business as usual or will there be changes coming? I guess we will just have to see.
Okay, I just did a little searching and it is Yahoo that Microsoft has offered to buy. That really makes more sense and is more believable but it is still significant. I wonder what that would make MS share of the search engine market? Maybe they will bring Google down from their high horse?

Yeah, I heard this this morning also.
M$ has always wanted to compete against Google for those search engine revenues.
However, just like everything else M$ does, they take to long to get into the game and I think Google is just too far ahead that no one will be able to catch them.
yea i agree with mr chonk… google will always be 1 step ahead of MS. I do like the idea of a fairly close competitor with google, so they cant rule us over like tyrants.
I don’t mean to be the big know it all… But Microsoft didn’t offer to buy google. They offered to buy YAHOO. and it was for 44Billion or about $31 per share. Yahoo stock closed on thursday at about $20 per share. They said that they would offer share holders a choice of stock or cash.
However this is just the initial announcement of the offer. Its by no means a done deal.
The rumor mill then went into action and said that if Microsoft buys Yahoo, will google buy aol….
Yep, I know. I corrected the article right after I published it. Read the second paragraph.
Yahoosoft or Microhoo

While this is probably a good thing for Yahoo who just announced they are laying off 1200 people (whereas Google announced they’re in hiring mode), it’s doubtful that it will have a whole lot of impact on google as far as you and I are concerned. MS is about the only company around with the bucks to compete with GOO, but GOO is so established and entrenched (how many of you DONT have a google toolbar??), that it’s going to be nearly impossible to uproot them.
MS will probably develop their own toolbar that will come with the next iteration of IE and that will be programmed out of the box to not play nice with any other toolbar out there. (JMO).

I have a hard time getting too excited about this but it would be nice to see a little competition for The Goo Monster. They’ve gotten a tich big for their britches in my humble opinion. Yahoo’s a very nice pickup for Microsoft, if only they can do something with it…provided of course the take over occurs at all!
PEACE………T
I believe Google has gotten too full of itself and it would be nice to see it be beat down by msn and yahoo. Too bad it isn’t too likely…
It will not be called yahoosoft.com, etc, thats for sure i can guarantee it. Yahoo does hold that domain name though.
People were stealing traffic from Microsoft and Google and sending it to Yahoo. Since Microsoft traffic was less expensive, there were a lot of people taking from Microsoft and sending it to Yahoo. Yahoo has since turned down Microsoft, but a few days later Yahoo agreed to stop taking the ad traffic from Microsoft (and Google for that matter) There’s more going on here than us mere mortals know about.
