How To Keep Your PC As Good As New
Who would not like to have their computer stay new forever? Although this wish looks quite far-fetched, it is not a very difficult goal to achieve. You just need to perform regular preventive maintenance of your PC with the help of some good and efficient PC maintenance tools.
In this article, we are going to provide an overview of a few essential tools that can help you keep your PC as good as new for a long time.
Antimalware Tools
Rundll and several other computer errors are generated due to virus and spyware infections. Virus and several other malware infections infiltrate your PC through infected websites, e-mail attachments, external media, and open network shares. Spyware and adware programs, on the other hand, come packaged with other software programs that you may download from the Web. To prevent and fix rundll error and any other error that may occur due to malware infections, you need to regularly use two important tools: antivirus and antispyware. Performing a full-system scan using these tools helps you ensure that your system stays free from these malicious programs.
Registry Tools
The registry is a storehouse of all configuration information of your Windows computer. As you add and remove programs and hardware from you computer, information is accessed, added, modified, or removed from the registry. In the process, a lot of junk such as outdated or invalid information strays within the registry. If your system is infected with a malware infection, the registry is quite likely to be filled up with loads of malicious registry entries that may generate several computer and registry errors. To prevent all these registry problems, as a vigilant user, you must regularly scan and clean your registry. You can use the Windows Registry Editor (regedit) tool to perform some level of registry maintenance. However, it is best to use an efficient and user-friendly registry cleaner tool.
Hard disk Tools
Two main causes of hard disk problems are accumulation of a large amount of junk programs and files, and defragmentation of stored data. These two issues cause problems that can not only put unnecessary load on the hard disk, but may also cause physical damage to it. The following are some of the tools that you can use to maintain a healthy hard disk:
- Add or Remove Program or a third-party program uninstaller to get rid of unwanted programs.
- Disk Cleanup to compress old files, empty Recycle Bin, remove temporary files, clear old program setup files, and delete old system restore points.
- Disk Defragmenter to consolidate fragmented data on the hard disk.
- Error Checking tool and chkdsk command to repair problem files and sectors on the hard disk.
Hardware Tools
Physical hardware and device driver-related issues may also cause unnecessary problems on your Windows PC. To prevent these problems, you may use the Device Manager utility to regularly upgrade the installed drivers. You may also use a hardware diagnostics utility to regularly check your system hardware for any inherent problems. If you find any issues, you must resolve them to ensure optimal performance of your PC.

You know, honestly, I’ve found that reformatting the computer every few months or so is really the only way to keep it functioning as if it were brand new.
It’s really unfortunate, but I spent countless hours tweaking a lot of the same things you’re talking about in this blog posting and really compared to the time I spent doing that, reformatting is the most time efficient way of taking care of it.
Sometimes all those take too much time if it hasn’t been done for ages. I prefer reformatting though.
good job! thanks for sharing these great tips! website already bookmarked!
I am obliged for these useful tips on how to make your PC work at its best. I too have bookmarked it, actually its a compulsion!
Reformating is a time consuming process. Unfortunately most PCs don’t even come with restore CDs. You usually have to make them when you start your PC for the first time. How many folks forget to do this? You know that people don’t get oil changes for their cars when they should. Its far better to perform some maintenance on a computer to keep it in shape.

What you should really to keep a PC in tip-top condition is reformat the harddrive and do a completely new reinstall once every six months.
Sure, there are plenty of methods and appliances to help maintain a PC but there still isn’t a substitute for regularly starting again.
This isn’t to be taken lightly however and you need to read up on the correct method of doing this

Might be useful too.
A lot here have commented that a fresh start is the way to go. Myself I have found that to prevent a fresh start you just need to a little simple maintenance and don’t go overboard installing stuff. Make sure you always uninstall old drivers before installing the new ones, defrag regularly, keep av programs updated and do full scans. I have done a few reinstalls. I also have clones of my install just in case but the time it takes to get everything right after a reinstall is very tedious. It could take 4-8 hours to get all of your programs installed after a reinstall.
