Helping Others
As you all know, this time of the year (holiday season) is about more than turkey, presents, or vacations. It is also about helping others that are less fortunate than the rest of us. That is why I am pleased to tell you about the Alzheimer’s Foundation eStore. There you can purchase a holiday gifts and the proceeds benefit the Alzheimer’s Foundation of America. Do you know of someone who is affected by Alzheimer’s or takes care of someone with Alzheimer’s? Well the products that they offer are perfect for the care givers or patients themselves. They are also a good present to yourself and it shows that you support those with Alzheimer’s.
Quality Care
The search for a cure is ongoing but until Alzheimer’s has been cured we must continue to ensure that those afflicted with Alzheimer’s get the care that they need and deserve. Through your donations to the AFA you can rest assured that those that are in need are getting the care that they should be receiving. The Alzheimer’s Foundation of America helps by providing a Reach out for Care hot line that is staffed by social workers or other professionals who can take your call and answer your care questions and help you contact agencies designed to meet the needs of the loved one that you are caring for. The AFA also gives grants to local resource centers and hosts events designed to increase awareness to the cause, honor those who are afflicted with Alzheimer’s, and promote proper detection of the disease. The National Commemorative Candle Lighting was November the 8th and National Memory Screening Day is tomorrow. Be sure to check those out as well.
The AFA says that it is their mission;
â€to provide optimal care and services to individuals confronting dementia, and to their caregivers and families—through member organizations dedicated to improving quality of life.â€
and with your help by providing donations to their Alzheimer’s dedicated site or by purchasing an item through them I am sure that they can meet that mission. This holiday season give a little; I am sure your gift will be appreciated. I am going to go check them out for the Combined Federal Campaign drive and see if they are listed there, that way I can give through a payroll deduction.
