Stats For January

A month has passed since the last goals update and that means that it is time to see where the site stands, so let’s see what the goals for the website were for the month of January;

January Goals
2000 Page Loads
1000 Unique Visitors
400 Returning Visitors
20 RSS subscribers
25 Quality posts

This past month has been a good month. I managed to sell my first direct ad, have got a bunch of backlinks without trying (no link exchanges, or link requests). For the most part I have met most of my goals except for two very important ones.

Quality Posts

I wanted to do 25 quality posts but thanks to a fairly busy schedule at work it was hard to get any good work done on my site. I only managed to post 16 articles and while that may not be bad, well that was something that I had control of. It should have happened no matter what. Doing frequent, quality posts can mean the difference between a successful blog, and one that no one takes serious. Thankfully though it didn’t hurt my traffic but I need to pay more attention to this in the future.

RSS

This is an area where I am still working. I did manage to get a few more subscribers during my contest but it was only a few and no matter how easy it was to subscribe, the contest didn’t spur more than three or four to commit to receiving TWR in their email. Right now I have about 9 people who read my RSS, 7 of those are subscribed. This month I think I may be able to pull off that magic 20 though. Now you could help me out by subscribing to my RSS feed through Feedburner if you don’t mind.

Now for the rest of the stats;

• 2,133 Unique Visitors
• 575 Returning Visitors

As you can see I blew by all of my other goals without a problem. A lot of that has to do with Entrecard. If you drop cards, then you can expect about half of those as visitors. If you advertise along with that then you will gain a few more from EC. That isn’t the only medium for the success though, I also sponsored Comment Friday over on Blog About Your Blog and gained some traffic from that also.

So what am I going to try and do next month? Well I have hit some fairly high goals this past month and I really don’t want to set the goals too high but I also don’t want to be a wimp, so here it goes;

700 Returning Visitors

22 Quality posts

I have a few good posts already planned, I will be digging deeper into advertising and then I am going to try and cover some good affiliate programs so that we can learn to monetize our blogs a little more efficiently. I will also try and cover a few blogs that I believe are good resources for the blogger. Stay tuned and I hope to earn your time.
